Blogging is a great way for promoting businesses, both large and small. It’s a great way to share content for marketing purposes, for networking with others in your industry, and to keep your customers and audience informed of new happenings and new products. It’s also a great way to direct traffic to your website. But in order for your blog to be truly helpful to you, it needs to be successful. You may have a blog already, and it may have a bit of traffic, but in order for you to have a truly successful blog you need to have more traffic and an increased online presence. Here are a few tips to help you increase your blog traffic and presence so your blog will truly pay off for you.
SEO, or search engine optimisation, is a great way to help you build your online presence and gain traffic for your blog. SEO can be a little tricky to work with, but if you can at least keep your content informative and of good quality, you post regularly, and include things like videos and images and backlinks and make use of keywords (use the Google Keywords tool to help you), you should be able to make a decent go at helping search engines to give your page a decent if not high search result ranking. Include sharing links on your blog so people can share your posts if they like them.
Don’t get stuck in a rut. Keep working on optimising and improving your content and your site. Posting regularly to your blog can also help you to improve your content, as you can see what people are liking and not liking, and you can work to improve and post more of what people seem to like. Regular posts don’t have to be daily. They can be every other day, weekly, monthly. They can also help with SEO and also let people know you are still there and haven’t dropped off the face of the earth.
Whatever you post on your blog, keep it consistent and valuable to your audience. Consistent and valuable content can help boost your online presence and increase your credibility as an authority figure in your industry and help build trust between you and your followers. This also goes for what you share in the online communities you are involved with and your social media channels. Try for an 80% – 20% mix of sharing content, with 80% sharing of other people’s content and 20% sharing of your own content, but keep it consistent and valuable to your audience. This can also help you build relationships with others in your industry and reach others’ followers as well.
If you’re not doing it yet, share your blog posts on social media. You don’t have to be on every social media channel, but use at least two or three that work best for your company and share on them. Share your blog posts as you publish them, but also post other things on them as well. Keep them consistent, though. When you share your blog posts, include a link back to them so people can see your blog. If they like what they see, they will share your posts, and earn you more traffic and increase your presence.
Try targeting some of your content towards an audience who is likely to share your posts. Infographics, videos, images, and interesting facts tend to be shared fairly often.
Don’t just publish once and forget. Some people might miss the initial posting, so think about going back a day or two later and resharing the post so that more people will be likely to see it. When you reshare it, try switching up the title so it is more alluring and seems less like spam.
Try to get referral traffic from other, high-traffic niche sites. Find high-traffic niche sites with good quality content. Link to them in your blog posts. Email them to let you know you linked to them. If they weren’t aware of you and your content before, they are now, and if they’re feeling friendly, they’ll share your content on their platforms, and on their social media, if they have any. They will like to your blog, and that’s where you’ll get referral traffic from.
